CPI(ML) New Democracy demands:

1.            The scrapping of the nuclear deal and resignation of Manmohan Singh.

2.            No to strategic tie up with US imperialism

3.            Parties opposing the deal give commitment to scrap the deal when in direct or indirect power

On July 12, 2008 at 1130 AM, activists from Delhi Committee of CPI(ML) New Democracy held a demonstration at Parliament Street New Delhi against the Manmohan Singh led UPA Government’s racing to finalize the anti-national India-US Nuclear Deal. This deal is one more step towards tying India to the apron strings of US strategic interests and US imperialism’s foreign policy. The protestors burnt an effigy of Manmohan Singh and raised slogans of “Manmohan-Sonia traitors and liars!” “Manmohan Singh- Resign!” and “No to strategic tie up with America!”

Secretary of Delhi State party, Com. Aparna spoke about, how the Manmohan Singh government is trying to reduce the entire debate on the very serious issues raised by the US-India Nuclear deal to merely a case of borderline numbers in Parliament. Not only does it mean that US imperialism is going to decide India’s nuclear policy, by tying it to American strategic designs; it is riding rough shod over the Indian people’s proud history of anti imperialist struggles. The need of the hour is to mobilize people of the country to oppose both the nuclear deal and the strategic tie up with America.

Dr. Mrigank, (President, Naujawan Bharat Sabha) spoke about the huge costs of India to separate civilian and military facilities, it invests the US with the right to scrap the deal with return of all facilities and no compensation of our costs of separation if the US President decrees India’s actions are hostile to its foreign policy, or will further India’s own nuclear military programme.

Activists of CPI(ML) New Democracy held a protest today at Jantar Mantar, condemning in the strongest terms the efforts of Pro POSCO goons abetted by POSCO and Government of Orissa to target the anti-POSCO movement.

Yesterday pro POSCO goons climbed on a school roof when anti- POSCO agitators had gone towards Jatadhari and lobbed bombs at the retuning group in Dinki-Gobindpur area. Dula Mandal, about 35 years of age, was killed and two others grievously injured . The situation of 20th June night is that a crowd of over 1000 has surrounded the school and is demanding the arrest for murder of culprits who are caught in the school.
This incident is only one more in a series of attacks on anti POSCO agitators by pro POSCO goons working with the blessings of the State Government to attack the agitation and force the people to surrender their lands-themselves a source of betel leaf - to the MNC. CPI(ML) ND condemns all such efforts.

We demand from Naveen Patnaik Government
1.    Arrest the goons caught in the school  and charge them with murder
2.    Cancel POSCO deal.

In a medley of red flag and banners, Delhi IFTU Committee's May Day Rally walked from Ram Lila Maidan to Jantar Mantar against rising contractualizaion. They expressed support to the fighting patriotic people of Iraq and Afghanistan and to the anti displacement struggles of the peasantry in India.

At Jantar Mantar IFTU leaders addressed a mass meeting and targetted mainly the prise rise. They said that the rising proces were the result of the anti agriculture, pro corporate and pro MNC policies of the ruling classes of India. They demanded the arrest of the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Chidambaram the Finance Minister for treason, for making this rich country with its productive land and abundant natural resources dependent on import of foodgrains. The truth is that less and less people in India are getting enough to eat and this situation is  because of the government's policies.

IFTU leaders condemned growing contractualization and non-implementation of labour laws. Need based minimum wage even for the organized sector was a distant dream. They called on workers to intensify struggle for jobs and rights and to lead people's struggles aginst price rise.

IFTU condemned the murder of Amin Banra, activist of Bistapan Birodhi Janmanch Sukinda by TATAs goons on May Day and the TATA-Orissa Government combine which was responsible for the same.
