Central Committee of CPI(ML) - New Democracy had called for organizing programmes on 14th July 2001 on the occasion of arrival of Pakistan President Gen. Parvez Musharraf to highlight demands for inclusion of the representatives of people of Jammu & Kashmir in the talks to resolve Kashmir issue and to honour the democratic aspirations of the people of Kashmir. Dharnas, rallies, torchlight processions, public meetings, conventions and other programmes were organized in different parts of the country.

The Delhi Committee of CPI(ML) - New Democracy held a dharna at Jantar Mantar from 2 P.M. on 14th July. The dharna highlighted the above demands. The dharna also condemned the withdrawal of cease-fire by the Indian Govt. and demanded restoration of civil liberties of Kashmiri people and withdrawal of military from the Valley. Around 100 people participated. The dharna was addressed by party leaders and representatives of different mass organizations.

On 14th July, from 11 A.M., a dharna was held by CPI(ML) - New Democracy activists at the office of DC, Panipat on the same issue in which a number of other people also participated. The dharna was addressed by District Committee Secretary of Party, Com. P.P. Kapoor and other leaders.

Programmes were organized at different centres in Bihar. Torchlight processions were taken out in Sasaram and Dehri-on-Sone. In Muzaffarpur a day long dharna was held by the Party on 14th July before the office of the District Magistrate. Com. Prakash Das and other leaders addressed the people. In Darbhanga a torch light procession was brought out at Hayaghat demanding early resolution of Kashmir issue according to the democratic aspirations of the people of Kashmir.

In Punjab conventions were held in seven districts on these demands. In the Conventions held at Amritsar, Gurdaspur, Nawanshahr, Patiala and other centres, a large number of people participated and demanded resolution of Kashmir issue on the basis of democratic aspirations of the people of Kashmir.

In UP, a meeting was held at Ghaziabad. In Allahabad a Convention was held to highlight these demands.

In Andhra Pradesh programmes were taken at different centres in which a large number of people participated. The speakers condemned violations of democratic rights in Kashmir and demanded that democratic rights of the people there should be respected. Programmes were also organized in West Bengal, Maharashtra and Rajasthan.
