Over four hundred Palestinians have been killed in the incessant air attacks against blockaded and cut off Gaza strip bordering Israel and Egypt. Ultra-modern weaponry supplied by US imperialism has been on display against the Palestinians of Gaza. Israeli planes targeted hospitals, schools, mosques and civilian houses not to mention Parliament building, police headquarters etc. Old and young, women and children took the brunt of killings by Zionist criminal rulers of Israel.  For the maximum toll of civilians bombed at the prayer time. A mother pulling her young daughter from the debris, a father pulling his young son from rubble are common sights. People are being slaughtered while all aid and relief is denied through blockade of land, air and sea routes. Hospitals are without medicine, operations are being done without anaesthetics. Moreover, people are without food and basic things necessary to sustain life. 1.5 million people are being caged and imprisoned to face the deadly onslaught of state of art bombers and their explosive payload. A massacre is being perpetrated in “laboratory conditions” prepared by Zionist criminals and their US patrons. Zionist rulers are denying any humanitarian crisis as they do not consider the Arabs living in Palestine as human beings.

All this is being done in the name of protecting Israeli citizens from rockets fired by Hamas (Islamic Resistance Movement). The blame is sought to be placed on Hamas for not renewing the ceasefire after its expiry last month. But was there any ceasefire at all? If at all it was there, it did not prevent Israeli rulers from total blockade of Gaza, an act termed as that of war under the international law. It did not prevent Israeli rulers from repeatedly sending their troops into Gaza to raid, capture and kill Palestinian leaders. Such was the ceasefire designed to starve the Gazans into submission, into surrender before Israel. All this punishment was brought upon Palestinians for electing Hamas in one of the freest elections held in a Arab territory. But the elections which do not elect their protégés are undemocratic in the eyes of US imperialists, their allies, their lackeys, and obviously Zionist rulers of Israel. Patrons of kings and princes, Sheikhs and Amirs, military dictators and cronies, wish to control how the people exercise their democratic right to elect their representatives. Democracy, to them, is people’s obligation to elect the candidates selected by US imperialist rulers for their countries. All else is violation of democracy, human rights, and is of course terror….

This dance of death and destruction is being sponsored and promoted by US imperialists. They are blaming Hamas for inviting it on Palestinians in Gaza. Bush is happy with it and Obama of course justifies Israeli’s right to self-defense. No such right obviously accrues to the people and organizations opposed to US designs. European imperialist rulers who wish to show themselves different from America, also sing the tune of all attacks must stop, not the one that is being unleashed before their eyes. Ban ki moon, who probably was not on this planet, came back to earth to decree end to all violence! Bigger hypocrisy is unlikely from those who kept mum on inhuman blockade and are now trying to shield Zionists in the name of end to rocket attacks.

But more atrocious is the silence of Arab rulers who are being seen as conniving with Israeli rulers. Despite this murderous assault Egyptian Govt. has refused to open Rafah crossing for humanitarian aid to pass. Rulers of Egypt, Jordan and Saudi Arabia are being seen by the people of these countries as collaborators with Israel and Arab street is rising against these rulers. Huge demonstrations have taken place in Cairo & other Egyptian cities, Amman, and cities of Gulf countries. Beirut, Damascus and Baghdad has also seen huge outpouring of people’s anger against this massacre of Palestinian Arabs. Worse still, Palestinian Authority President Mohd. Abbas whose Fatah was defeated in elections to the Palestinian parliament and later on the streets of Gaza is also being viewed as a collaborator in this Zionist crime. Many commentators have seen in his attitude a desire to ride to Gaza on Israeli tank. Abbas’s Fatah is further losing ground everywhere to Hamas. Arab leaders. These sheikhs and emirs and military dictators have since long been the main support for US propped up Zionist rulers of Israel. It is being widely felt in Arab world that this attack had the tacit support of the rulers of these countries. Wherever else they may support democracy, US imperialism does not at all support democracy in these vassal states.

This post-Christmas attack is one of the most heinous in the long list of crimes of Zionist rulers against Palestinians. Zionist rulers in fact do not want to admit that there are Palestinians at all and want them all to be strangulated or thrown out of the land of Palestine. They wish to stop at nothing to achieve this end. At best they can tolerate a docile small Arab population living at their mercy enjoying no rights and demanding no rights. They have usurped Palestinian lands, evicted Arab inhabitants and every war they have used to grab more and more of Arab lands. Theirs is a long saga of crimes against Palestinians.

Zionist rulers have violated international law and UN decisions with impunity. What to talk of the UN decided borders they are not willing to even get back to pre-1967 borders. They are not willing to even consider Palestinian refugees’ right to return to their homes though the same is guaranteed under the UN resolution. But they are protected in all this with total support from US imperialism and utter hypocrisy of other powers. That is why they turned back 2002 offer of Arab states for comprehensive peace in the region. That is why they do not want to pursue two state peaceful settlement with PA. For them peace talks are only to prepare for further encroachment on Arab lands, and further decimation of Palestinian leaders. 

In this they are supported by US imperialists who in fact regard Israel as an essential tool in controlling oil-rich middle-east, while Israel is totally dependent on military and economic support of US. It is this mutual dependence of the ruling elites of the two countries, founded on the domination of the oil rich region which finds its expression in such unity of the two countries against Arab people. It is the oil, whose industrial utilization had changed a usurious Jew in western eyes to a wandering one without home. Balfour declared British design to get them their homeland settling them in Palestine and supporting them against Arabs. It is important to note that this conspiracy against Arab countries had begun much, much before Hitler had ascended to power in Germany.

After the Second World War, the equation in the imperialist world changed, US imperialism emerging as its leader and hence as the main protector of Israel. No crime was left undone by this combination as the confluence of their interests against the interests of Arab countries necessitates continuous suppression of the people of these countries.

But the day of glee of US imperialists and Zionists are drawing to a close. Gone are the days they could beat Arabs into submission. First Hizbollah in Lebanon and now Hamas in Palestine are demonstrating that it is not possible to vanquish people, united and determined. Side by side with a dead body of a Arab child there is another child stopping a tank. Imperialist hypocrites who talk so much against child soldiers say nothing against child martyrs, children maimed and slaughtered by them.

Far from extinguishing the Palestinian resistance, this war is going to steel them further in resistance. Israelis, whatever death and destruction they may rain from sky, will find no respite and if they do venture to commit ground aggression, they will find no respite. Every street, every house will be the centre of resistance. They will be bogged down in a war from which they would not be able to extricate themselves. War will not remain a night programme on TV but become a nightmare. US citizens learnt in Iraq and Afghanistan. But the aggresssors will commit more and more aggression, such is the logic of their situation. And they will meet more and more debacles, such is the logic of the resistance.

Palestinians are determined to carry on their fight. Zionists like Hitler before them may try hard as they may to exterminate them but they will fight and live to see victory. Those whom Hitler’s killing machine killed, are being used in death to snuff out lives from the living just as Hitler did. It is ironical but true.

The relation of the present Israeli attack with the looming elections there could just be precipitating factor for the underlying drive of those in power in that country. They are unlike to see reason unless they are forced to do so. And only determined resistance of Palestinians can be such a force.

The present was is a asymmetrical war, a doubly asymmetrical war, with power totally weighed on one side and justification on the other. But such asymmetrical wars have been won and are being waged by the people, oppressed and suppressed. Justness of their cause and determination of their resistance will lead the path to victory as people do find the ways to meet the challenges before them. David will yet defeat the Goliath. Weak still defeat the strong.  

It is time the democrats and progressives the world over unequivocally condemn the Zionist regime’s aggression and the support to this blatant aggression by US imperialism. They must press their govts. to aid besieged Gaza.
