Com. N.V. Krishnaiah, member of the Central Committee of CPI(ML)-Kanu Sanyal passed away on 13-09-2006. Com. NVK, as he was popularly known, was not keeping good health for last few years.

Born in 1930, he was attracted towards communism while studying at V.R. College, Nellore. He played an active role in student movement and became a CPI member. At the time of 1964 split in CPI, he became part of the then CPI(M), becoming the secretary of Nellore town and also district committee member of CPI(M). The same year he was elected as municipal councillor in Nellore.

With the Naxalbari spring thunder over India, he along with other A.P. Communist Revolutionaries, left CPI(M). When Com. Tarimela Nagi Reddy resigned from the A.P. Assembly, Com. NVK also resigned from councillorship. Until his last breath he worked for the poor. During Emergency, he was arrested and spent jail life. He was jailed many times and also implicated in the Hyderabad (Nagi Reddy) conspiracy case in 1971. Imprisonment did not deter his determination towards revolutionary politics.

After Emergency, in 1978 he joined CPI (M-L) led by Com. S. N. Singh. He became a Nellore district committee member. He participated as a delegate to the state conference held in 1980.

He organized district Motor Workers and became their president. He made efforts to extend this union to Prakasam district. He played a key role in forming unions in Nippo and spinning mill. He waged many agitations to safeguard the rights of workers.

In 1989, he got elected from Siricilla Assembly constituency to the A.P. Assembly. He also contested Karimnagar Parliamentary constituency in 1991 and stood second. He worked as the president of A.P. Beedi Workers Union (Sramikashakti) and waged many struggles for their upliftment.

Central Committee of CPI (M-L)- New Democracy pays its revolutionary homage to Com. NVK and expresses its deepest condolences and expresses sympathy to his family.
