CPI (ML) New Democracy Call : Protest Against Fake Encounters, Operation Kagar & Displacement of Tribals

CPI (ML)-New Democracy strongly condemns killings of the leaders and activists of CPI (Maoist) in the name of encounters. This is being implemented as a policy during Operation Kagar targeting leaders and cadres of CPI (Maoist) in which large number of them have been killed along with tribals. In this Operation Govt. has not cared for the constitutional and legal norms during conduct of such operations. On 18th November encounter in Andhra Pradesh killing six including CPI (Maoist) leader Madava Hidma and on November 19th encounter in the same area killing seven more leaders and cadres of CPI (Maoist) have been called as fake by civil liberties and democratic rights organizations. CPI (ML) New Democracy strongly demands Judicial Enquiry into these encounters. We also demand that fake encounters be stopped and Operation Kagar should end. CPI (ML)-New Democracy condemns the role of TDP led Govt. in Andhra Pradesh in carrying out these large scale killings.

It is reported that a large number of people have been arrested in Andhra Pradesh in the name of being associated with CPI (Maoist). It is said that its leader T. Tirupati alias Devuji is among them. CPI(ML)-New Democracy demands that all those arrested should be produced in Court without delay.

Operation Kagar is part of steps to implement the Govt. policy to hand over mineral resource regions inhabited by tribals to foreign and domestic corporate. Govt. has signed several MoUs with corporate for exploitation of these resources. CPI (ML) – New Democracy demands that all such MoUs be cancelled and no tribal should be forcibly displaced from his habitat. Govt. must implement Forest Rights Act and PESA provisions meant for rights of tribals.

CPI(ML)- New Democracy appeals to all peace and justice loving people, all supporters of democratic rights, civil liberties of the people and rule of law and supporters of rights of tribal people to protest against these fake encounters. We appeal to all progressive and democratic organizations and people to organize protests on November 21 & 22 demanding judicial enquiry into fake encounters, production of all arrested in Court, end to Operation Kagar and No to displacement of tribals. Raise your voice against this lawless suppression and trampling of democratic rights.
