Central Committee of CPI (ML)- New Democracy strongly condemns US imperialist attack on Venezuela, bombing civilian areas in capital Caracas and other cities having blockaded Venezuela through sea and air. CPI (ML)- New Democracy also strongly condemns terrorist attack by US imperialism in capturing President of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro and his wife and taking them to USA.
For months, US imperialism had been building its forces in the Caribbean near Venezuela. US had deployed aircraft carrier USS Gerald Ford and a large contingent of forces. More than 30 Venezuelan boats had been attacked killing several persons and US has taken control of two oil tankers. For several months, Trump Administration has been resorting to war rhetoric against Venezuela. The real intent behind these attacks is to affect regime change in Venezuela whatever Trump Admn. may claim. US imperialism wants to bring to power pro-US forces which are present in societies of countries of Latin America.
Trump has been unapologetic about his imperialist goals. National Security Strategy unveiled by his Admn. openly talks about controlling western hemisphere and its resources. Trump has taken Monroe doctrine to a higher level, not only prohibiting other powers from western hemisphere but also claiming all the resources of the countries of the hemisphere, a sort of ‘Donroe’ doctrine. Trump has claimed that all oil reserves of Venezuela which has highest such reserves in the world, belong to America citing the role of US companies in the past. This is a blatant colonial logic.
Priding himself as a President for Peace, Donald Trump represents the most hawkish and reactionary sections of the US ruling big bourgeoisie. Faced by the rise of imperialist rivals, US imperialism is hell bent on restoring and perpetuating uni-polar world. His tactics may be different but the goal is same and he pursues it more blatantly with utter disregard of international law.
Facing mounting difficulties at home, Trump Admn. seeks to double down on aggression on other countries. Their Making American Great Again is exposed to be a cover for their more shameless colonial pursuit.
US attack on Venezuela is an attempt by a superpower with declining influence to reassert its global dominance. This is in particular an attempt to check and roll back the anti-US imperialist forces in Latin American countries. This region from being the backyard of US imperialism is becoming front against them. It is a message to all countries especially those of western hemisphere.
This attack will be strongly be resisted by people of Venezuela and opposed by the people of the countries of South and Central Americas. This attack will be opposed by all oppressed countries and peace and justice loving people of the world. CPI(ML)-New Democracy fully supports people of Venezuela in this struggle.
CPI (ML)-New Democracy calls upon all progressive, democratic, peace loving and anti-imperialist forces in India to oppose and protest against this crude and cynical attack against the sovereignty of a country. Trump Admn. poses danger to the sovereignty and resources of the people of all countries with its considerable influence in economy and penetration of its intelligence agencies.
CPI (ML)-New Democracy calls upon all its ranks and revolutionary people to take up protest action against this attack by US imperialism. Rise against this gross international banditry. Protest where possible with all forces opposed to this attack.
