Centenary of the Founding of Gadar Party Observed

 On 21 February 2013 Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) held a massive conference at village Sarabha, the native village of Gadar Party hero, Kartar Singh Sarabha, on the occasion of the centenary of the founding of Gadar Party, in which thousands of people from the various parts of Punjab participated. Massive gathering comprised of mainly workers, peasants, women, students, youth and other toiling people. People full of enthusiasm, chanting slogans, carrying banners of the party, joined the gathering.

Conference formally started with the unfurling of the flag of Gadar Party by senior leader of the party, Com. Darshan Singh Khatkar. Veteran Communist and freedom-fighter since Kirti Party to Naxalbari movement, Gandharv Sen Kochhar inaugurated the conference by expressing revolutionary greetings. Addressing the conference, senior party leader, Com. Ajmer Singh explaining the history of Gadar Party, emphasized the heroic and unprecedented sacrifices of the gadderites, how Sarabha, Harnam Singh and Jagat Singh had escaped but returned to reorganize and kissed the gallows. Com. Khatkar said that in contrast with Congress party, Gadar Party was the first party which stood for complete and real independence, from its very inception. Congress collaborated with imperialism, in contrast, Gadar Party Gadar Party stood for democratic republic and secularism and opted for armed struggle. Senior party leader Com. Sardara Singh Mahil explaining the relevance of Gadar Party, said that dreams of these freedom fighter have not come true, what happened on midnight of 15 August 1947, was merely a transfer of power into the hands of alliance of imperialism and its native compradors, turning country from a colony to semi-colony. Since then foreign capital is entrenched in the commanding heights of economy. New economic policy based on globalization, liberalization and privatization on the dictates of imperialism was imposed. All sectors of economy, including sensitive sectors like multi-brand retail, Banking, Insurance and Media etc. have been opened for foreign capital. On behalf of Indian Workers Association (G.B.) Com. Kulbir Singh Sanghera expressed fraternal support to the campaign of the party. Mr. Gurmeet Singh also addressed on behalf of Desh Bhagat Yadgar Committee. Proceedings of the conference were conducted by Com. Kulwinder Singh Waraich.

During the proceedings of conference Sh. Charanji Lal Kangniwal, a research scholar of Gadar Party history was felicitated. Resolutions were adopted demanding that two universities be named as Shaheed Kartar Singh Sarabha university and Shaheed Bhagat Singh university, Gadar martyrs be recognized as national martyrs, history of Gadar Party be made part of curriculum of history subject at all levels and chairs be established in universities for research in history and literature of Gadar Party. Veteran Party leader Com. Tara Singh Chalaki and leaders of working class Tarsem Peter and Raj Singh Malout were present on the stage.
