Having dropped bombs at three nuclear sites of Iran on 22nd June early morning, US President Donald Trump announced on 24th early morning a ceasefire between Iran and Israel. This Trump announcement has been endorsed by Israel’s Netanyahu and accepted by Iran according to the Iranian Broadcasting Corporations announcement.
US President also announced that US will not respond to Iran’s attack on Al Udeid base of USA in Qatar on June 23 evening as Iran had given advance information. Iran also confirmed that it had informed Qatar of the attack in advance. The Ceasefire brings to a halt the war between Israel and Iran. It brings an end to killings of civilians in Iran and Israel.
President Trump went against his important election promise of not initiating any war and bombed Iran, which was opposed by opposition Democrats and a vocal section of his MAGA base. Not able to achieve any of the goals of his bombing of nuclear sites, Trump cut his losses and sued for peace. Qatar has reportedly been the mediatory in this.
The cease-fire brings to end this misadventure of Israel of attacking Iran. Their misplaced over-confidence in their missile defense shield has evaporated in thin air. They have been forced to halt their aggression which they had imposed on Iran. It is defeat of war-mongerer Netanyahu led Zionist regime. It is a victory of people of Iran who faced this blood thirsty war machine which was doing the “dirty work” of western imperialist powers. It will be difficult for Netanyahu led Zionist murderers to manage this peace, having been thwarted in their attempt at war with a bloodied face.
US led Israel attack and US bombings of Iran have been condemned by the countries of the region, Global South and powers especially Russia and China and opposed by the Resistance forces in the Middle East including Houthi led Yemen. This was a feeble belated attempt to assert US dominance but multi-polar world thwarted the attempt.
While Israel’s aggression against Iran ending in ceasefire, the real issue of the Middle East is very much there i.e. struggle of Palestinians for their national rights. According to a Palestinian site, 55959 Palestinians have been killed, 131242 wounded and 14000 are missing in Gaza. These figures do not include Palestinians killed and maimed in West Bank. Palestinian cause enjoys overwhelming support of the countries representing overwhelming majority of world people. Israel’s failure to subdue Palestinians has led the frustrated Zionists and their western backers to attack the forces supporting their resistance. Attack against Iran was part of a series of such aggressions.
RSS-BJP Govt. has found itself on the wrong side of history both on aggression against Iran and genocide of Palestinians in their bid to draw close of western powers, especially USA. Pieces of their broken foreign policy are being scattered by the events.
People should press ahead to bring to book guilty of genocide of Palestinians and support national rights of Palestinians. There will be no peace in Middle East till Palestinians get justice.
