IFTU condemns arrests for holding Press Conference on Ayodhya Verdict

The Forum Against Hindutva Fascist Offensive (FAHFO) had planned to organise a Press Meet on the recent Supreme Court verdict on the Ayodhya issue this morning at the SVK, Baghlingampally. But this was foiled by the Police by arresting those who were to address the press meet.

The all India President of the AIKMS V.Venkatramaiah, K.Suryam, General Secretary, IFTU (Telangana) and Mohan Bairagi of ACF are  among those picked up by the police. Anuradha, member of the convening committee of FAHFO has been kept under house arrest. The reason attributed by the police is that holding a press meet on the Supreme Court verdict is supposed to be unlawful. This is a flimsy ground for the arrests, for opinions from various quarters have been aired openly.

The National Committee of IFTU condemns these arrests and feels that this is an attack on the freedom of expression. It  demands their immediate release.
